St John Nigeria campaign for healthy hearts
St John Nigeria ran a hugely successful training session for the Nigerian Heart Campaign 2009 conference in Lagos. Heart disease is emerging as a major cause of death in Nigeria due to the high dietary salt and fat intake and the conference aimed to educate and raise awareness of the need for lifestyle changes.
St John begins preparing Caribbean communities to respond in disasters
The Order of St John has obtained 169,000 Euros to train communities across the Caribbean Region in First Aid and responding in emergency situations. The 19 month project starts in June 2009 and has been funded by the German Department for Foreign Affairs in Berlin with additional support from The Johanniter in Germany.
Displaced people supported by St John in Sri Lanka
St John Sri Lanka has received a request from the Ministry of Social Services to provide temporary shelters for hundreds of internally displaced people (IDPs) in the north of the country, who are seeking safety following the recent upsurge in fighting in the 26 year war between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil Tigers.

St John Ambulance in the Australian state of Victoria is currently staffing 13 fire points which are supporting the front line fire figters during the country's worst fire diaster in history.
St John set up cholera centres in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is currently facing its most serious cholera epidemic ever. The disease has spread across the country and has already claimed the lives of hundreds of people. St John has set up cholera treatment centres and is supporting hospitals and health centres.
St John critical during Mumbai seige
St John Ambulance - No. III Maharashtra District, Mumbai were called into action during the horrific terrorist attacks which swept across the city on 26th – 29th November. St John Ambulance volunteers remained close to the Taj Mahal Hotel and provided support in casualty evacuation from the building and First Aid to injured persons over an extended period of time.
The Patron of St John Ambulance No III, Captain Roderick Sale, spoke of their involvement in the terrifying events “I would like to take this opportunity to record my fullest praise for the consistent efforts of No. III District during the recent Mumbai shootings. In these very tragic circumstances they have provided an invaluable service notwithstanding the considerable danger that they were all in. I am very proud of their efforts.”
'One St John' - the Lord Prior sets out his vision for the future
On 20th November 2008 The Order of St John formally welcomed its new Lord Prior, Professor Anthony Mellows in an Installation ceremony at The Priory Church in London.
