Disaster Relief for Myanmar - German St John dispatches teams

In May 2008, cyclone “Nargis” caused catastrophic destruction in Myanmar. More than 130,000 people were killed and two million required assistance. In response, the Order of St John’s sister Order in Germany, Die Johanniter dispatched three teams to provide necessities to the population.

Transport training for Uganda - May 2008

The UK based NGO, Transaid is providing vital training to St John Association’s in Africa, to help them manage their ambulance fleets with the ultimate aim of improving the levels of service they can offer to their local communities. Following successful training in St John Zambia Transaid went to St John Uganda in May 2008.

The Caribbean Get Together - June 2008

After much planning and anticipation, 18 St John trainers from across the Caribbean came together to update their First Aid skills, gain new training techniques and to share ideas with other trainers from around the region. It was the first time the Order of St John has organised a regional event for trainers and it was a huge success.

Queen comes to Chairman's Reception, March 2008

To celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the existence of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital, we were lucky enough to have Her Majesty, The Queen, Sovereign Head of the Order of St John, and H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh attend the Chairman’s Reception at St John's Gate.

Ambulance Training Visit to Accra Ghana, May 2007.

Avon County have worked with St John Ghana for the past 10 years with various training visits for both adults and cadets including hosting a group of trainers from Ghana in Bristol to development them as Tutor trainers.
