On 21 November 2012 we marked the retirement of Rear Admiral Andy Gough as Secretary-General of the Order.  He had served for nine years with great distinction and had been at the heart of many of the changes which have taken place within St. John during that period.  While in office he made many friends, and we are all greatly indebted to him for the major contribution which he had made to the progress of St. John.  We wish Andy, and his wife Susie, a long and happy retirement.

The International Team welcomes Sir Paul Lambert as our new Secretary General. Sir Paul has an outstanding track record of leading strategic planning, management and policy development. He has been a long serving member of the Royal Navy, controlling global Navy operations as well as working for the Ministry of Defence with responsibilities for the defence budget and advising ministers during major budget reviews. He was made a Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath in the 2012. We are delighted that Paul is returning to St John (he was a Cadet in his youth) to steer the Order Office over the coming years of growth and development.
